Founded on January 1st, 1869 at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, Sigma Nu’s founding fathers made their intent clear – to create a fraternal organization unlike any other, one that held the personal honor and integrity of its membership in the highest regard.

The Delta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Nu was chartered in 1915 at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. With the help of the chapters of Sigma Nu at the University of Washington and the University of Montana, Zeta Delta (a local fraternity to the University of Idaho) was granted its invitation to become a chapter of Sigma Nu by the High Council of Sigma Nu Fraternity. In the Spring of 1915, the men of Zeta Delta accepted the call to honor, and joined the ranks of the Legion of Honor.

Since our local founding, we have assumed a position of seniority among Greek Row as one of the oldest fraternities on campus. We have since then initiated over 1700 members and our presence can be felt at every level of campus life at the University of Idaho.

Our Brothers have gone on to become Superbowl Champions, Hall of famers, Senators, and leaders of industry. But most importantly, they became leaders of men. They became something more.  And it all started right here.

We empower our brothers to achieve. Our exstensive academic plan connects our members to the resources they need to succede in the classroom. Our Chapter GPA reflects the success of our program, as the average member of our Chapter is consistently above a 3.0 GPA, and nearly a third of our members are above a 3.5 GPA.

We empower our brothers to develop their passions and learn to give back. The Delta Omicron Chapter champions community causes such as hunger and poverty, donating over 700 hours of community service and $5,000 dollars a year to charities such as Habitat for Humanity, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, and local community food banks. We believe that teaching our brothers how to serve others is the first step to becoming great leader.

And so we empower our brothers to lead. LEAD is Sigma Nu's award-winning ethical leadership development program. In alignment with Sigma Nu's continuing efforts "To develop ethical leaders..." we offer the LEAD Program as a tool to assist our membership in both gaining the knowledge and developing the skills and abilities needed to be an effective and ethical leader for life. The LEAD Program is a comprehensive ethical leadership development program designed to ensure participants "learn by doing."

It is right here, that "...We win in the fresh morning of our youth the loyal love of faithful friends, who will go with us unmoved into the darkening shadows of life's closing day; and so to seek and to find, to have and to hold the friendships that will abide."
